Method Detail
Top

AddBlock (integer, integer, logical, integer, integer, integer)

Purpose: Creates a new block row at the end of the document
Notes:

Parameters:
piBlockKind INTEGER
The integer code of the block kind
piHeadingLevel INTEGER
The heading level, 0 when the block is not a heading
plListNumbered LOGICAL
TRUE for a numbered list item
piListLevel INTEGER
The nesting level of a list item
piListNumber INTEGER
The number of a numbered list item, 0 otherwise
piListNumbering INTEGER
The integer code of the numbering type of a numbered list item
Top

AddCodeBlock ()

Purpose: Adds a new code block at the end of the document
Notes: Following Add... calls for runs go into this block

Top

AddHeading (integer)

Purpose: Adds a new heading block at the end of the document
Notes: Following Add... calls for runs go into this block

Parameters:
piLevel INTEGER
The heading level, 1 to 6; values outside that range are clamped
Top

AddHorizontalRule ()

Purpose: Adds a horizontal rule block at the end of the document
Notes: A rule holds no runs and never receives one: AddText,
AddLineBreak and AddImage start a fresh paragraph when the
block that was added last is a rule, so that a reader which
does not end the rule itself cannot put the text behind it
inside it (SCL-5857).
It carries neither an alignment nor an indentation either -
SetBlockAlignment and SetBlockIndentLevel refuse both for it.

Top

AddImage (character, longchar)

Purpose: Adds an embedded image run to the current block
Notes: When no block has been added yet, a paragraph is started
implicitly. The data is stored as one unwrapped line of
base64, which is the form every writer needs - a data URI
cannot carry a line break - so the line breaks that BASE64-
ENCODE and the base64 of a foreign document may carry are
removed here rather than in each reader.

Parameters:
pcMimeType CHARACTER
The MIME type of the image, e.g. image/png or image/jpeg
plcBase64Data LONGCHAR
The base64 encoded image data
Top

AddLineBreak ()

Purpose: Adds a line break run to the current block
Notes: A line break inside a block, not a block boundary. When no
block has been added yet, a paragraph is started implicitly.

Top

AddListItem (integer, integer, ListNumberingEnum)

Purpose: Adds a new numbered list item block with the given number and
numbering type at the end of the document
Notes: Following Add... calls for runs go into this block.
The number is the one of the item, not the start number of its
list (SCL-5858). The unknown value asks the model to count: the
item then takes the number behind the one of the item in front
of it, when that item is numbered in the same type on the same
nesting level and nothing but items of deeper levels stand in
between - the rule StartsNewList reads the document with - and
1 otherwise. That is for a reader whose format writes the start
number on the first item of a list only.
The unknown numbering type is the one of the item that is
continued, or Decimal. A number below 0 is 0, one above the
nine digits of a Markdown marker is 999999999.

Parameters:
piLevel INTEGER
The nesting level, starting at 0 for the outermost level
piNumber INTEGER
The number of the item, or the unknown value to continue the list in front of it
poNumbering Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.ListNumberingEnum
The numbering type, or the unknown value for the type of the list that is continued
Top

AddListItem (logical, integer)

Purpose: Adds a new list item block at the end of the document
Notes: Following Add... calls for runs go into this block. A numbered
item added this way continues the list of the item in front of
it - it takes the next number and the numbering type of that
item, or starts a decimal list at 1 when the item in front of
it does not continue into this one (SCL-5858).

Parameters:
plNumbered LOGICAL
TRUE for a numbered list item, FALSE for a bulleted one
piLevel INTEGER
The nesting level, starting at 0 for the outermost level
Top

AddParagraph ()

Purpose: Adds a new paragraph block at the end of the document
Notes: Following Add... calls for runs go into this block

Top

AddText (longchar, TextRunFormat)

Purpose: Adds a text run with the given formatting to the current block
Notes: Merges into the preceding run when that run is a text run with
identical formatting, so that the model stays canonical.
An empty or unknown text is ignored. When no block has been
added yet, a paragraph is started implicitly.

Parameters:
plcText LONGCHAR
The text of the run
poFormat Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.TextRunFormat
The character formatting of the run; may be the unknown value for unformatted text
Top

LOGICAL CanMergeIntoLastRun (TextRunFormat)

Purpose: Returns if a text run with the given formatting can be merged
into the run that was added last
Notes: Leaves the ttRun buffer positioned on that run when TRUE is
returned, so that the caller can append to it

Parameters:
poFormat Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.TextRunFormat
The character formatting of the text to be added
Returns LOGICAL
TRUE when the last run is a text run with identical formatting
Top

ClearListState (integer)

Purpose: Forgets the list items passed so far in the given scope
Notes: Called for every block that is not a list item - it ends every
list that is open (SCL-5858)

Parameters:
piScope INTEGER
The scope of the list state, iScopeAdd or iScopeCursor
Top

CloseCell ()

Purpose: Makes sure the cell that is open holds at least one block
Notes: Called before the cell context moves on. An empty cell has to
become an empty paragraph - a cell that holds no block at all
would not exist in the document, and the cells behind it in
the row would move up by one.

Top

LOGICAL ContinuesList (integer, integer, logical, integer, integer, integer, integer, integer)

Purpose: Returns if the given list item continues the list of the item
that was passed last on its nesting level
Notes: The rule of the class header (SCL-5858)

Parameters:
piScope INTEGER
The scope of the list state, iScopeAdd or iScopeCursor
piLevel INTEGER
The nesting level of the item
plNumbered LOGICAL
TRUE when the item is numbered
piNumber INTEGER
The number of the item
piNumbering INTEGER
The integer code of the numbering type of the item
piTableId INTEGER
The table of the item, 0 outside a table
piRowIndex INTEGER
The row of the item
piCellIndex INTEGER
The cell of the item
Returns LOGICAL
TRUE when the item continues that list
Top

CreateRun (integer)

Purpose: Creates a new run row at the end of the current block
Notes: Leaves the ttRun buffer positioned on the new row

Parameters:
piRunKind INTEGER
The integer code of the run kind
Top

Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.TextRunFormat CurrentRunFormat ()

Purpose: Returns the character formatting of the ttRun row the ttRun
buffer is currently positioned on
Notes:

Returns Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.TextRunFormat
The new TextRunFormat instance with the formatting of that row
Top

EndTable ()

Purpose: Closes the table that is open
Notes: Following Add... calls for blocks go back to the top level of
the document. Closing when no table is open does nothing.

Top

LOGICAL FindListPredecessor (integer, integer, integer, integer, integer)

Purpose: Positions the ttListState buffer on the list item that was
passed last on the given nesting level of the given scope
Notes: Only a row of the same table cell counts - a list belongs to the
cell that holds it (SCL-5858)

Parameters:
piScope INTEGER
The scope of the list state, iScopeAdd or iScopeCursor
piLevel INTEGER
The nesting level
piTableId INTEGER
The table of the item that is being compared, 0 outside a table
piRowIndex INTEGER
The row of the item that is being compared
piCellIndex INTEGER
The cell of the item that is being compared
Returns LOGICAL
TRUE when such an item exists and the buffer is positioned on it
Top

LOGICAL FirstBlock ()

Purpose: Positions the block cursor on the first block of the document
Notes: Resets the run cursor as well

Returns LOGICAL
TRUE when the document has at least one block
Top

LOGICAL FirstRun ()

Purpose: Positions the run cursor on the first run of the current block
Notes: Requires the block cursor to be positioned

Returns LOGICAL
TRUE when the current block has at least one run
Top

CHARACTER FormatListNumber (integer, ListNumberingEnum)

Purpose: Returns the label of the given list number in the given
numbering type
Notes: Without the period a writer puts behind it: 5, e, E, v or V for
the number 5. The letters run on the way HTML counts them -
z is followed by aa, ab - and a roman numeral exists for 1 to
3999 only. A number the type has no label for (0 for a letter,
4000 for a roman numeral) is written as a decimal one, which is
what a browser shows as well (SCL-5858).

Parameters:
piNumber INTEGER
The number of the list item
poNumbering Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.ListNumberingEnum
The numbering type of the list item
Returns CHARACTER
The character with the label
Top

INTEGER FromBlockAlignment (BlockAlignmentEnum)

Purpose: Returns the integer code for the given BlockAlignmentEnum member
Notes: The unknown value is the unset alignment, so that a caller
may hand over the alignment it holds without a guard

Parameters:
poAlignment Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.BlockAlignmentEnum
The alignment
Returns INTEGER
The integer code to store in ttBlock.Alignment
Top

INTEGER FromListNumbering (ListNumberingEnum)

Purpose: Returns the integer code for the given ListNumberingEnum member
Notes: The unknown value is None, so that a caller may hand over the
numbering type it holds without a guard

Parameters:
poNumbering Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.ListNumberingEnum
The numbering type
Returns INTEGER
The integer code to store in ttBlock.ListNumbering
Top

INTEGER FromUnderlineStyle (UnderlineStyleEnum)

Purpose: Returns the integer code for the given UnderlineStyleEnum member
Notes: The unknown value is Single (SCL-5859)

Parameters:
poUnderlineStyle Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.UnderlineStyleEnum
The underline style
Returns INTEGER
The integer code to store in ttRun.RunUnderlineStyle
Top

LONGCHAR GetRunText ()

Purpose: Returns the text of the run the run cursor is positioned on
Notes: Only meaningful when RunKind is TextRun; for an Image run this
returns the base64 encoded image data instead. Valid after
FirstRun or NextRun returned TRUE.
This is a method rather than a property because a LONGCHAR
property cannot be fixed to a code page - assigning a UTF-8
value into one converts it to -cpinternal and raises
"Could not convert LONGCHAR to cpinternal (11669)" for every
character the session code page does not know.

Returns LONGCHAR
The longchar with the value, fixed to UTF-8
Top

INTEGER GetTableRowCellCount (integer, integer)

Purpose: Returns the number of cells of the given row of the given table
Notes: Reads through a buffer of its own, so that the block cursor
keeps its position - the RtfWriter needs the cell count of a
row before it writes the first cell of it, because the cellx
boundaries of the row definition come before the content.

Parameters:
piTableId INTEGER
The id of the table
piRowIndex INTEGER
The row within that table
Returns INTEGER
The number of cells of that row, 0 when the row does not exist
Top

LOGICAL IsEmpty ()

Purpose: Returns if the document holds no block at all
Notes:

Returns LOGICAL
TRUE when the document has no blocks
Top

LOGICAL IsInTable ()

Purpose: Returns if a table is open
Notes: A reader uses this to find out whether it still has to call
EndTable when the input ends or a block outside the table
begins

Returns LOGICAL
TRUE when a table is open
Top

LOGICAL NextBlock ()

Purpose: Positions the block cursor on the next block of the document
Notes: Resets the run cursor to before the first run of that block

Returns LOGICAL
TRUE when a next block was available
Top

LOGICAL NextRun ()

Purpose: Positions the run cursor on the next run of the current block
Notes: Requires the block cursor to be positioned

Returns LOGICAL
TRUE when a next run was available in the current block
Top

LONGCHAR ReadBlobField (handle, character)

Purpose: Returns the value of the named BLOB field of the given buffer
Notes: The stored bytes are read back as UTF-8

Parameters:
phBuffer HANDLE
The buffer holding the row to read from
pcFieldName CHARACTER
The name of the BLOB field
Returns LONGCHAR
The longchar with the value, fixed to UTF-8
Top

RecordListItem (integer, integer, logical, integer, integer, integer, integer, integer)

Purpose: Records the given list item as the one passed last on its
nesting level
Notes: The rows of the deeper levels are removed, so that a sublist
which follows an item of its parent level starts anew, and so
are the rows of another table cell (SCL-5858)

Parameters:
piScope INTEGER
The scope of the list state, iScopeAdd or iScopeCursor
piLevel INTEGER
The nesting level of the item
plNumbered LOGICAL
TRUE when the item is numbered
piNumber INTEGER
The number of the item
piNumbering INTEGER
The integer code of the numbering type of the item
piTableId INTEGER
The table of the item, 0 outside a table
piRowIndex INTEGER
The row of the item
piCellIndex INTEGER
The cell of the item
Top

SetBlockAlignment (BlockAlignmentEnum)

Purpose: Applies the given horizontal alignment to the block that was
added last
Notes: The one block property that is not passed at creation. The two
readers that have an alignment to apply discover it at
opposite moments - the RtfReader sees the control word before
the paragraph exists, the HtmlReader reads the style attribute
of an element after it opened the block - so neither order
would fit a parameter of AddParagraph and its three siblings.
The block that was added last is the block AddText appends to,
not the one the read cursor stands on: a document is written
by one party and read by another, never both at once. Doing
nothing when the document holds no block at all is deliberate,
so that an alignment that stands in front of any content can
be handed over without a guard at the call site.
A horizontal rule keeps the unset alignment whatever a reader
hands in (SCL-5857): a rule has no text to align, so a writer
emitting a text-align on an hr would write a declaration that
its reader maps nothing back from and the document would
differ from the one that was written.

Parameters:
poAlignment Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.BlockAlignmentEnum
The alignment to apply; NotSet clears it again
Top

SetBlockIndentLevel (integer)

Purpose: Applies the given indentation level to the block that was
added last
Notes: Applied after the block was created for the same reason the
alignment is - the RtfReader sees the li control word before
the paragraph exists, the HtmlReader reads the style attribute
of an element after it opened the block (SCL-5856).
The level of a list item is always 0, whatever a reader hands
in: RTF expresses the indentation of a paragraph and the
indentation of a list with the same li control word, so a list
item that carried an indentation of its own could not be told
from a plain list item on the way back. The level is therefore
a property of blocks that are not list items, in the model
rather than in each of the readers, so that all four formats
agree on it. A quoted bullet list loses its quote on the first
pass, like every other construct the model cannot hold.
The level of a horizontal rule is always 0 for the reason its
alignment is (SCL-5857) - see SetBlockAlignment.

Parameters:
piLevel INTEGER
The indentation level, 0 for a block that is not indented
Top

StartTable ()

Purpose: Opens a new table at the end of the document
Notes: The blocks that are added while the table is open carry the
cell they belong to. A table that receives no cell at all
leaves no trace in the document, because a table is only made
of the blocks of its cells.
Opening a table while one is already open closes that one
first - the model cannot nest a table inside a cell.

Top

StartTableCell (logical)

Purpose: Opens a new cell in the row that is open
Notes: Starts a row implicitly when none is open. Following Add...
calls for blocks and runs go into this cell; a cell that
receives no content becomes a single empty paragraph, so that
the cell exists in the document.

Parameters:
plHeader LOGICAL
TRUE for a header cell
Top

StartTableRow ()

Purpose: Opens a new row in the table that is open
Notes: Starts a table implicitly when none is open, so that a reader
does not have to guard against a row that stands on its own

Top

Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.BlockAlignmentEnum ToBlockAlignment (integer)

Purpose: Returns the BlockAlignmentEnum member for the given integer code
Notes: An unknown code is the unset alignment - the field of a block
that was never given one holds 0

Parameters:
piAlignment INTEGER
The integer code as stored in ttBlock.Alignment
Returns Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.BlockAlignmentEnum
The matching BlockAlignmentEnum member
Top

Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.BlockKindEnum ToBlockKind (integer)

Purpose: Returns the BlockKindEnum member for the given integer code
Notes:

Parameters:
piBlockKind INTEGER
The integer code as stored in ttBlock.BlockKind
Returns Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.BlockKindEnum
The matching BlockKindEnum member
Top

Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.ListNumberingEnum ToListNumbering (integer)

Purpose: Returns the ListNumberingEnum member for the given integer code
Notes: An unknown code is None, which is what a block that is not a
numbered list item holds

Parameters:
piNumbering INTEGER
The integer code as stored in ttBlock.ListNumbering
Returns Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.ListNumberingEnum
The matching ListNumberingEnum member
Top

Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.RunKindEnum ToRunKind (integer)

Purpose: Returns the RunKindEnum member for the given integer code
Notes:

Parameters:
piRunKind INTEGER
The integer code as stored in ttRun.RunKind
Returns Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.RunKindEnum
The matching RunKindEnum member
Top

Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.UnderlineStyleEnum ToUnderlineStyle (integer)

Purpose: Returns the UnderlineStyleEnum member for the given integer code
Notes: An unknown code is Single, which is what a run that is not
underlined holds (SCL-5859)

Parameters:
piUnderlineStyle INTEGER
The integer code as stored in ttRun.RunUnderlineStyle
Returns Consultingwerk.Util.DocumentConverter.UnderlineStyleEnum
The matching UnderlineStyleEnum member
Top

LONGCHAR UnwrapBase64 (longchar)

Purpose: Returns the given base64 value without the whitespace it may
be wrapped in
Notes: Works on the bytes: the base64 alphabet is ASCII, so a byte
that is whitespace is whitespace and can never be part of a
multi byte character. The bytes are taken in windows of a
CHARACTER value and cleaned with REPLACE rather than one by
one - two loops over every byte cost about 3 seconds on a
photo of 3.4 MB (SCL-5866). GET-STRING ends at a null byte;
that byte is whitespace here, so the next window simply
starts behind it.

Parameters:
plcBase64Data LONGCHAR
The base64 value to unwrap
Returns LONGCHAR
The value in one line, fixed to UTF-8
Top

WriteBlobField (handle, character, longchar)

Purpose: Writes the given value into the named BLOB field of the given
buffer as its UTF-8 encoding
Notes: A CHARACTER field could not hold what the session code page
does not know, and a CLOB field takes that code page too, so
every text carrying field of the model is a BLOB

Parameters:
phBuffer HANDLE
The buffer holding the row to write to
pcFieldName CHARACTER
The name of the BLOB field
plcValue LONGCHAR
The value to store
Top

WriteRunText (longchar)

Purpose: Writes the given value into the TextValue field of the ttRun
row the buffer is positioned on
Notes: The value is stored as its UTF-8 encoding, so that the field
can hold every character regardless of the session code page

Parameters:
plcValue LONGCHAR
The value to store
